3 tips for digital marketing in Brazil

The Brazilian online market is large and still developing, making it very attractive to businesses wanting to expand internationally.

But, if you decide that you want your business to enter Brazil, how do you get started? Launching in a new market is tough, especially when that market has a whole different language and digital landscape.

Never fear, I have written a full-length guide to digital marketing in Brazil, and in this blog post I will pull out some of the key points!

1. Include WhatsApp in your digital marketing strategy

WhatsApp is the most popular app in Brazil in terms of active users. The app became extremely popular since it offered a free and convenient way of communicating on mobile. Since then, it has been widely adopted by businesses as a way of providing customer service, and today you can reach most businesses in Brazil via WhatsApp. Customers are so used to this that it is estimated that 77% of them use the app as a way to communicate with brands and businesses and ask them questions. If your business is targeting Brazil and you have a local team, you should therefore leverage WhatsApp as a tool for customer service.

2. Localise your content for Brazilian Portuguese

Brazilian Portuguese has some grammar and terminology differences compared to the language spoken in Portugal. This means it is very important to ensure your content is properly localised, rather than simply copied from your Portugal website. Translation, localisation and copywriting should always be done by a professional native Brazilian Portuguese speaker. Only a native will have a proper grasp of the local linguistic and cultural nuances and be able to create content that truly resonates with your local Brazilian audience.

3. Sell your products on Mercado Livre

When you think of e-commerce, your mind probably goes straight to Amazon. It is the most popular e-commerce platform in many countries around the world – but not Brazil! In Brazil, the top e-commerce website is Mercado Livre, so it is there that you should sell your products if you are targeting Brazilian online shoppers.
