We’ve covered the importance of reviews before–reviews are a great way to promote your business and encourage other consumers to try your products or services. Additionally, reviews also help your website be seen by improving your search engine optimization (SEO). But even if you know that reviews are important, you may not know how to ask for reviews. If you’re struggling to connect with customers and get them to leave reviews, here are four tips that may help—
Make it Personal
It can be difficult to make an ask for a review personal, as it will require more time and resources than a general email blast would. But, if you can make it work, a personal ask may be much more effective. For example, if Jane, one of your employees, assisted Martha, one of your customers, you can ask Jane to email Martha directly, touch on some element of their interaction together, and then ask for a review.
Provide a Lot of Options
One thing that can deter customers from leaving a review is the requirement to leave the review on a platform a customer may be unfamiliar with. For example, if you need an account to leave a Facebook review or a Google review, the customer may choose not to leave the review simply because they don’t want to create an account. You can mitigate this by providing a lot of options for how and where customers can leave reviews.
Incentive It
Even if you provide great customer service, a customer may not take it upon themselves to write in a review. If you incentive the review process, however, they’ll have more motivation. Consider offering consumers a freebie, coupon, or discount if they leave a review. Another option is to enter a consumer into a contest or give-away if they leave a review.
Show Off Reviews that You’ve Received
If customers think that other consumers are leaving reviews, they may be more inclined to leave reviews themselves–a lot of reviews, especially positive ones, are a form of that can influence others. As such, make sure you show off your reviews on your website and your social media pages.
