Hi, I’m Polina! Formerly, I worked as a senior digital marketing manager and now I am a marketing mentor at Pathrise. I help job-seekers prepare for their future in digital marketing. Check out my review of Copyblogger.
What does Copyblogger do?
Copyblogger offers free online courses, masterclasses, and e-books to help people launch a career in content marketing. Their free program is self-paced. It consists mostly of newsletter lessons, masterclasses, and e-books delivered by email. However, students can become paying members of Copyblogger Pro for more advanced monthly masterclasses, live supplementary sessions with experts, accountability exercises, and 1-on-1 coaching via small Q&A sessions. Copyblogger Pro members also get access to their online community for greater support and networking opportunities.
Their free flagship content marketing program teaches students the technical and professional skills they need to become a digital marketer. Students learn to create content strategies by determining who their customer is, streamlining the customer journey, and building an audience. The curriculum covers content writing fundamentals, blogging, search engine optimization (SEO), copywriting, headlines, and conversion rate optimization (CRO). Students also master email marketing as they learn to automate messages, send newsletters, and craft call-to-action messages that convert. The course also covers content marketing beyond print with podcasting, vlogging, whiteboard videos, review videos, and informative videos.
While Copyblogger Pro teaches the same content marketing topics as the free course, it does so in greater detail with extra masterclasses, hands-on exercises, and email lessons. Members get instant access to 5 recorded 5-day masterclass workshops that cover content marketing, email marketing, SEO, and online business practices. While there is no formal job support, members get guides, worksheets, and checklists they can use during the job search. Students can also get 1-on-1 support from experts during tiny Q&A sessions.
Who is Copyblogger for?
People looking to break into content marketing with little to no experience could benefit from Copyblogger. The program is especially helpful for people who want to learn on their own. Current job-seekers may also benefit from using their free email newsletter lessons to keep their marketing skills sharp while interviewing.
What does Copyblogger cost? How much work is involved?
Their flagship course consisting of email lessons and e-books is completely free. However, a membership to Copyblogger Pro costs $495 per year for 5 recorded masterclasses, supplementary sessions, accountability exercises, live coaching, and member community.
There is no formal admissions process because the program is free. Anyone can sign for email lessons or a Copyblogger Pro membership. While their content can help sharpen marketing skills at any level, many masterclasses and e-books like content marketing 101 are designed specifically for complete beginners.
Ratings and reviews
As a free program, Copyblogger does not have many online reviews. However, popular marketing influencer Neil Patel endorsed the program in a blog post. In addition to being featured on blogs such as Duct Tape Marketing, the program was ranked the #1 copywriting course on Have a Word. A user on Reddit “always recommend[s] it for people with zero knowledge.” Another user described the program as “honestly the best copywriting blog out there.” However, some felt it wasn’t technical enough, with one user describing the paid version as “a well-organized waste of money.” Overall though, Copyblogger has been very well received by current and aspiring content marketers.
Alternatives to Copyblogger
If you choose not to use Copyblogger, there are a number of alternative bootcamps and resources that can help you launch a career in digital marketing.
How does Copyblogger compare to Pathrise?
Copyblogger is a free online resource that helps people launch digital marketing careers. While they prepare users for the job search, not even their paid program includes job support. Pathrise is a full service organization that helps students through all phases of the job search.
While CopybloggerPro members get limited live Q&A sessions for a taste of 1-on-1 support, their program is almost entirely self-directed. Pathrise fellows get unlimited 1-on-1 mentoring sessions to optimize their resumes and LinkedIn profiles, build their portfolios, prepare for technical and behavioral interviews, negotiate salaries, and much more. Our experienced mentors have already helped 1,000+ students and professionals land great tech jobs.
Copyblogger is completely self-paced and flexible. Our program is also flexible, with only 2-4 hours of group sessions per week and fellows can schedule 1-on-1s as needed. The Pathrise income share agreement (ISA) is only 9% of the first-year salary so fellows pay nothing until they land a tech job. We never require upfront payments or deposits. Since Copyblogger is a free and low-commitment resource, it can be used at the same time as Pathrise to sharpen marketing skills during the job search. Extra practice with free email lessons can help job seekers keep up with marketing trends, prepare for their job search, and ace interviews.
Pathrise is a career accelerator that optimizes the job search through 1-on-1 mentoring. Fellows in our program have seen their interview scores double and their response rates triple, landing jobs in just 3-5 months on average. If you are interested in working with any of our mentors to land your dream job faster, join Pathrise.
