Chris Hemsworth flawlessly handled his photoshoot for the May/June 2020 issue of GQ Australia magazine, posing assuredly in Byron Bay in New South Wales, Australia, where he calls home. However, the shoot was conducted ahead of the lockdown in March, when he eventually found himself in an uncertain time like everyone else.

“It’s probably the first time in about 10 years that I don’t know what I’m doing for the next six months,” he told the publication in an interview carried out some time after the shoot. “To some degree, it’s nice not to have a schedule,” he added, “But the unknown and the uncertainty is intimidating.”

The actor acknowledged that his family is a lot more fortunate than many others, since he still has his job and lives in a cushy hilltop home near Byron Bay with his wife, Spanish actress Elsa Pataky, their three children and dog Sunny. “But we’re here at home and attempting to homeschool the kids, which is a feat in itself.”

Tracing back to a simpler time, Hemsworth got comfortable in relaxed threads coordinated by Vogue Australia magazine’s fashion stylist Jillian Davidson in photos captured by New York photographer Matthew Brookes. Hemsworth’s dog, Sunny, even made an appearance in a couple of the shots.

The photographer described Hemsworth as “one of the kindest people in the business,” and detailed that “nobody makes you feel more welcome [than] the Aussies.”

Despite being thrown into a world of unpredictability, Hemsworth said he is using this downtime as a break from “15 years [of] what felt like a marathon, a constant workload.”

“Not having a schedule in front of me has made me reposition my values and what’s important, and I think most people are having those kinds of thoughts right now,” the actor explained.
