Communications and Digital Marketing Coordinator, Jazz South | South West, South East

Jazz South is an Ambition for Excellence Arts Council funded programme pioneering jazz development across the South of the UK outside London. Working with jazz practitioners including artists, educators, festival and venue promoters, we aim to support artist talent, strengthen connections, support improved and sustainable jazz practice and nurture the next generation in jazz. We strive to amplify ambitious work across the region, and work in partnership regionally/nationally to create opportunities. 

The programme is led and hosted by Turner Sims Southampton, one of the country’s leading concert venues with a renowned promoted series comprising classical music, jazz, world music and folk, presented by international artists and groups along with rising stars. Turner Sims is part of the University of Southampton and an Arts Council England National Portfolio Organisation.

Role brief:

We are seeking a passionate and experienced individual to take a key role within the team in the development and implementation of Jazz South’s Communications and Digital Marketing Strategy, and to coordinate promotion of our projects up to March 2021 in order to generate as wide a profile and audience as possible for our work and achieve the greatest impact. Key projects include commissioning schemes for jazz artists, co-promotion of regional jazz projects and online development opportunities to support the sector in the South.

The successful candidate will have a track record in developing and delivering marketing strategies – ideally within the jazz, wider music or cultural sector – experience in brand development, growing digital engagement through imaginative and accessible campaigns and proficiency in creating content across a range of social media, broadcast music, video and podcast platforms. The role will require practical knowledge of liaising with local, regional and national media. Working within a remote team, candidates will need to demonstrate skills in communication and collaboration as well as be able to take initiative.

This post is part-time, fixed-term to March 2021 which will be home-based and flexible.
