Digital Marketing and Social Media Officer – The Lincolnite

This is an exciting opportunity to join Visit Lincoln’s digital and social media marketing team at a time of significant change and development. Reporting into the Marketing and PR  Director, you will be an experienced digital marketer with a proven track record and a minimum of 4 years’ digital marketing management experience.

Visit Lincoln is the official promotional company for Lincoln. As a DMO (Destination Management Organisation) it markets the city and county as a place to visit, live, work, invest and study in. Its aim is to build Lincoln’s reputation and to attract investment and visitor spending, which creates jobs and growth. 

Visit Lincoln’s promotion is global, working in partnership with Lincoln City Council, Lincolnshire County Council, district councils, the LEP, tourism businesses and key stakeholders who have connections to Lincoln and Lincolnshire (including LNER and East Midlands Airport). Visit Lincoln also has a close working relationship with VisitEngland and VisitBritain and neighbouring DMO in the midlands. 

Visit Lincoln’s marketing and promotional activities are designed to encourage visits, investment, and spend primarily in Lincoln but also across Lincolnshire through an ‘attract and disperse’ approach. Visit Lincoln’s mission is to tell Lincoln’s story brilliantly – build the city’s reputation and support its long term success through Place Marketing. 

Purpose of the role 

  • You will own Visit Lincoln’s digital strategy, making sure it aligns with the overall marketing strategy. You will manage the planning, delivery and reporting. 

VisitLincoln.com & associated websites: 

  • You will plan and deliver all website activities including quality written, visual and video content. 
  • You will embrace new technology and trends, bringing new innovation into the team. 
  • You will oversee the development of all websites to ensure they delight the visitor, and adhere to the brand guidelines of Visit Lincoln.  
  • You will curate and manage the image library of Visit Lincoln, using it to promote Lincolnshire as a place to live, visit, work and invest in. 
  • You will work closely with colleagues, stakeholders and partners to ensure the website is always up to date and provides relevant information visitors and residents. 
  • You will have an advanced knowledge of Google Ads, Google Analytics and SEO. 

Social Media: 

  • You will influence target audiences through B2B and B2C channels including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn and Youtube and suggest/implement new social channels to ensure Visit Lincoln stays ahead of the curve.  
  • You will produce creative content that is backed up by data to ensure the right impact and reach is achieved. Your skills and knowledge will capture the imagination of audiences with ‘award-winning’ social campaigns that embrace new trends. 
  • You will grow Visit Lincoln’s profile as a key ‘influencer’ in the local/ national travel and tourism market place. You will support traditional PR and influencer engagement to source content and extend campaign reach. 
  • You will shape and deliver paid-for media campaigns including budget and billing. 
  • You will ensure social media provides maximum value and guidelines are followed to protect and enhance Visit Lincoln’s reputation. 
  • You will leverage networks locally and with key stakeholders to amplify activity  

Other activities: 

  • You will be competent at planning, creating, delivering and evaluating newsletters, podcasts, inhouse/professional video production and mobile photography. 
  • You will have a working knowledge of GSuite, Mailchimp, HubSpot and Trello. 
  • You will support Visit Lincoln’s Place Marketing work which extends beyond tourism. 
  • Visit Lincoln is a partnership organisation, you will deliver the digital elements of partnership recruitment and retention.  

Responsibilities include:

  • Taking the lead on website projects – driving innovation, optimisation and providing content that delights and inspires.
  • Manage the digital marketing calendar liaising with partners to ensure information is always accurate for both B2B and B2C audiences. 
  • Inspiring content creation for marketing collateral.
  • Expert social media leadership driving engagement across all social media channels.
  • Ensure the digital team monitors trending conversations, reacts to comments and posts in a timely manner 
  • Manage paid advertising across social media channels. 
  • Generate reports and present them to partners, as well as benchmarking and competitor analysis. 
  • Manage paid advertising across social media channels. 

Essentials:

  • Website strategy and experience of managing website projects. 
  • Social media strategy for B2C and B2B audiences, generating leads and driving engagement across all channels.
  • Advanced knowledge of social media platforms, optimisation and advertising on them. 
  • A can-do attitude with the ability to multitask and work under pressure.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships.
  • Hands-on experience and be someone who isn’t afraid to get stuck in.
  • A keen interest and thirst for knowledge within digital marketing.
  • A passion for Lincoln and storytelling.
