Digital Marketing News 28th January 2022 – TikTok Live Audio

Websites can be slow, very slow and that can affect your conversion rates, particularly from social networks.

TikTok just launched its solution for advertisers. Like Instant experience in FB ads, you can create TikTok Instant Pages that, according to TikTok, load 11 x faster than standard mobile websites.

This has an advantage for the advertiser who no longer has to stress about their website, and for TikTok that will keep users on the site for longer as people browse the instant pages.

Could TikTok Be Working On Live Audio?

Live audio is everywhere so it makes sense that TikTok, in a bid to continue to be the top network, would adopt it. It looks like it’s something they are working on.

Like other networks, this could be a good way for creators to make deeper connections with their audience.

But should TikTok stick to its core function? If it fails to evolve will it lose popularity as Clubhouse has? Will making the network more complex eventually alienate its core audience (Like Instagram)?

⚡️ New TikTok Features Thread

1. TikTok is working on a TikTok Avatars feature

The feature lets you use your phone’s camera to take a selfie with a fun facial expression which your avatar will match.

Who Viewed Your TikTok Profile?

You used to be able to see who viewed your TikTok profile but that stopped last year amid privacy and stalking concerns. But it looks like a new, improved version of this feature is on the way back.

Like Linkedin, you will be able to see who visited your profile only if you allow others to do the same. You will have the choice to switch profile visits on or off.

Why would you use this feature? Like LinkedIn, it could help you discover new people and make new connections. It will be particularly useful for creators who will now see if a brand is checking them out.

The feature will let you view who visited your TikTok profile in the past 30 days.

Instagram Live Updates & Remix for all videos

One way to get more traction and viewers on a live stream is to schedule it. When you do that people can sign up for a reminder, meaning they are more likely to attend.

Instagram scheduled live just got better. When you schedule a live broadcast it will appear on your profile making it easier to find, and instead of having to share it as soon as you set it up, you’ll now be able to go in and post to the feed or a story about it later.

Another update expands video remixing to all videos on Instagram, you’ll get the option to allow it when you upload.

Twitter flocks

Twitter has always been a public forum, even community posts are public but that could change. Flocks is a feature that will allow you to share tweets with a select group of people.

This could be great for sharing an offer with your best customers or for sharing content that a subset of your followers. It gives you the chance to share more personalised content.

This approach reminds me of Circles in Google+ which were perhaps a concept before their time.

Exclusive spaces for SuperFollow

Creator subscriptions are hot right now. If you are a creator you have plenty of choice from the social networks. This week Twitter confirmed that it’s going to offer subscriber-only spaces as a feature for Superfollows.

This will be a great asset for creators and their subscribers because it lets those people get into the conversation and actually talk to their favourite creators.

This is true. Excited the team is adding more touch points between creators + their Super Followers. 💙🎙️ https://t.co/LRGgKOblHj

What happened when YouTube got rid of dislikes?

When YouTube decided to test getting rid of public dislikes users objected. They thought it would be harder to find videos to watch, creators were happy as many had suffered ‘dislike attacks’. So what has happened?

Although dislike counts haven’t been publicly visible, the button remains functional and creators can see how many dislikes they recieved.

According to YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki, viewership has remained unchanged, I guess that means they will continue to hide them. It’s a nice way to remove unnecessary negativity from videos. Hopefully, it won’t encourage more negative commentary.
