DMing people does not build meaningful relationships – Rory Ramsden – Story Driven Digital Marketing Mentoring & Consulting

Here’s why…

To understand this we first have to define what the relationship between a business and its customer is based on.

The customer has to know, like and trust you.
They have to have a problem that needs solving now.
They have to know what you do and why it works so well.
They have to be confident that your offer will solve their problem.

And they have to have the where-with-all to pay the price you are asking.

Plus they need to match your high level client criteria.

Only when all these conditions are met can a deal be done.

There are people I know…
Who I have a relationship with…
Who I would never do business with…

In a million years.

Because although I know them to say ‘Hello‘ to and have a superficial chat with about the weather or something equally safe, I don’t know them well enough to say… ‘Let’s do business‘ and probably never will.

That’s the situation you find yourself in when you’re DMing with some new connection you’ve made.

You do your best to build rapport by asking simple questions in the way you would if you had just been introduced with someone at a party.

It may feel like you are getting on like a house on fire but it takes about 40-60 hours together for people to form a casual friendship.

To transition from a casual friend to friend takes about 80-100 hours.
To become good or best friends, it takes about 200 or more hours spent.

It’s true you don’t have to be bosom buddies to do business together but it does take time before you are ready to even entertain the idea of talking business and a lot more before enough water has passed under the bridge before you’re ready to sign on the dotted line.

None of this is going to happen on Messenger.

It may have done a few years ago.
Today that tactic is washed up.
It’s finished. Done with.

People are fed up with being propositioned by some appointment setter they’ve never spent any time with trying to inveigle them into booking a ‘clarity call‘ which everyone knows ( but is not saying ) is going to be a dressed up sales call.

Admit it…

If you were pitched like this you would feel uncomfortable.

You’d pull out an excuse like ‘I have to talk to my partner before we can make a decision‘ or ‘much as I would love to do business with you I simply don’t have the money, right now‘.

Both of which are a nice way of saying NO without hurting your feelings.

Pushing, pulling and pressuring people to buy from you is setting your new found client up for buyer’s remorse.

It’s about taking someone’s money so you can brag you have had yet another 20, 30 or 50k month.

The elephant in the room is…

Your new found client… And how they feel about the ‘after sales service‘ they have received.

For me, it’s about never treating people ( online or not ) in a way that I would not want to be treated.

That means I have to give people the time to get to know me.
Understand what I do ( my unique method ) and why it works so well.
Realise that this method is virtually tailor made to solve the problem they have…

And to decide that no matter what it takes they want to hire me to help them achieve the result they have set their heart on.

‘Ah...’ You say. ‘That takes months and months to produce revenue

In fact, done well, you are bound to take on new clients in the first 30 Days.

To do it well, there are conditions that apply, of course.

These are…

If anyone of these is ‘off’, you limit the effectiveness of the strategy.

It has to be said that this is for…

Expert service providers ( which includes B2B or B2C coaches and consultants ) who have a high value offer ( say 3k++ for 60/90 days of 121 support ) which they know converts (  they have sold it before  ) and want to use Facebook to attract high level leads without spending a dime on Ads.

These people have to love to share their expertise by writing illuminating posts that amplify their folks understanding of how to overcome the challenge they face and take actions that will move them towards their goal and are really good writers already.

It’s for people whose clients ( at least some of them ) have achieved good results from your method – and now they want to attract at least 1-2 clients per week for that offer from their organic FaceBook efforts.

It’s for people who are tired of pain-driven selling on long discovery calls and want to drastically free up their time by having their social media posts do 95% of the selling so they can either reduce the time spent on their calls or eliminate calls altogether and just sell via chat/messenger.

And it just happens to be the process I use every single day in my business to nurture and attract 3 To 5 of these aforementioned expert service providers every month who want to learn to do this themselves.

I welcome them to my 180 Day Digital Business Strategy Workshop which includes the 5 steps laid out above and is specifically designed for an early stage business ( 0 > 3 years ) which is why it is designed to be a lot more than a quick wash and a brush up.

We go at your pace. 121 calls take place every two weeks which allows you to take real action in between time. If you ever feel stuck, just tap out a DM and I’ll get back to you as quick as possible (minutes and hours rather than days ).

Be prepared to invest the lowest five figure number you can think of in cash or slightly more if you take the payment option for this awesome programme.

And be prepared to be challenged to do your best work. I’m not here to give you a free pass. I’m here to make sure you achieve what you dearly want to.

Remember: The person who sets the goal is never the one who achieves it.

There will be growing pains and uncomfortable moments. Recognise them. Welcome them. They mean that you are pushing through. Levelling up and expanding your boundaries.

If you’re ready to take responsibility for your own success, the first step is to DM me and we’ll have a chat to confirm you are a good fit.

If you are, you can get started right awayI won’t make you do an enrolment call or anything else to take up your precious time ).
