In an offer valued at roughly ₤ 60 million, online sellers The Hut Group (THG) has purchased beauty item development and making company Acheson & & Acheson in an effort to broaden within the market.

A Somerset-headquartered company running in a 78,000 sq feet center in Frome, Acheson & & Acheson has 380 members of staff to its name working on the research study and development of numerous charm items for a variety of different labels. Two Wiltshire sites, specifically for packaging and distribution, also fall under the group’s ownership.

Its own skin care line– Ameliorate– is developed for those struggling with keratosis pilaris, and is offered worldwide in high-street sellers like Selfridges, Harvey Nichols, Area NK Apothecary and Liberty’s, along with in Boots and Marks & & Spencer’s.

The acquisition will indicate that of Acheson & & Acheson’s departments will be added to THG’s portfolio, and in return the company has actually pledged to invest ₤ 50 million to grow the Acheson & & Acheson brand globally.

Earlier this year, THG purchased translation business Language Link and eye cosmetics business Eyeko in July and March respectively. This is in addition to its acquisitions in the previous year when THG purchased skincare line ESPA and beauty membership service Glossybox.

Kenneth Acheson, one of the creators of Acheson & & Acheson, thinks that the acquisition “will no doubt take [the company] to the next level of development”.

The offer was sourced and brokered by partners Tim Leach and Rob Halsall from Baylor Klein and was advised on the legal front by Paul Medlicott from Addleshaw Goddard.
