Cleaner Cook Stoves in Rwanda
In Rwanda, firewood accounts for at least 86% of energy consumption and is the primary cooking fuel for 98% of rural households. The distribution of fuel-efficient cookstoves reduces the amount of wood burning in households, which means less harmful smoke, less indoor air pollution, and fewer greenhouse gas emissions.
The stoves are designed and produced in-country, providing much-needed training and employment to the region and ensuring that they are tailored to the cooking needs of families. CO2balance works closely with local NGOs and governments to ensure that stoves are distributed to regions without pre-existing markets for efficient wood-burning stoves. The stove is supplied at a highly-subsidised rate to ensure affordability for families unfamiliar with improved devices; in this way, CO2balance hopes to kick-start demand for improved cooking technology across the country.
This programme is comprised of fourteen micro projects, each of which will create 10,000 tonnes of emissions reductions through reducing the combustion of unsustainably-harvested biomass. The programme aims to reduce pressure on woodlands and wildlife, reduce indoor air pollution and improve the lives of local families.
Clean water access for families in Laos
In Laos, over 80% of households must boil their water to make it safe to drink. Despite many taking this boiling precaution, preventable illness from drinking contaminated water is still a leading cause of death for children under five. But with a water filter at home, families can produce their own safe water every day.
The filters do more than just fending off thirst and illness. Without the need for boiling water, families are able to buy or collect less wood and fossil fuels, reducing smoke in the kitchen and protecting Laos’ beautiful forests from further deforestation.
TerraClear is breaking down the barriers that make clean water access a challenge for rural communities. Creative strategies and community-focused education and promotion are allowing TerraClear to change lives a few litres at a time. Through this project, they aim to provide the people of Laos with 100,000 locally-made filters by 2019.
100 MW Wind Power Project at Anantapur
This 100 MW wind power plant, supported by Orange Renewable, is located in the district of Anantapur in Andhra Pradesh, India. The project consists of 50 Wind Turbines of 2.0 MW each generating clean electricity. To ensure the best possible outreach to the community, the project has a dedicated site team that works exclusively on engaging local stakeholders. The project adheres to best practices and has conducted an ESIA study in line with the IFC guidelines. The goal behind this project is to generate over 215 GWh of clean energy and positively impact the lives of local communities.

Orange Renewable has been recognized jointly by Sustainable Maharashtra, INDIRA, World CSR Day and World Federation of CSR professionals agencies in the “India Sustainability Leadership Summit and Awards” with “Sustainable Carbon Management Practice Award” and “Sustainable Community Leadership Award” in 2017 for remarkable sustainable development.
At the project site; Orange conducted a detailed community ‘Need Assessment’ survey to understand local requirements and planned activities based on this feedback. Orange consistently invests in the following thematic areas:

Every activity carried out at the project site draws maximum attendees as mass communication material are deployed to attract locals. Pamphlets at Panchayat, posters, mike announcement, skits (Nukkad Natak) etc so everyone in need may attend benefits programs.
Apart from the site activities at this project, Orange has involved in CSR activities Pan India with an outreach spans to more than 50 villages, impacting close to 30,000 lives of 6000 families in 7 states of India. The group has successfully constructed close to 220 km of roads at various project locations. More than 550 km of transmission lines have been built at its project sites to enable electricity to reach the main grids. More importantly, the group has generated employment for more than 3,000 people in the remote areas in the country around its projects directly or indirectly.

In terms of what CSR will mean to Bamsh Digital Marketing, it is essentially an umbrella term to encapsulate how we impact and engage with (i) the environment, (ii) employees, (iii) the community, (iv) suppliers. Bamsh Digital Marketing undertakes significant activities in these areas and we follow a four pillar policy that can be seen below.

Each year we compensate for the carbon we produce. We consistently invest in community projects to improve the lives of others and to make improvements that contribute to a cleaner environment.
Having made savings by cutting our CO2, we can pass on the benefits through channelling some of these savings to projects such as those above. A relatively small amount of money can make a big difference when targeted carefully. By combining our efforts with other organisations – focusing on quality projects which we feel will make a big difference – we are proud of our contributions and positive activities in the field of Corporate Social Responsibility.
Charity and volunteering
Each year, charitable donations from staff are raised through various events held throughout the year. Members of staff also raise money through sponsorship for various sporting events. Through sponsorship and volunteering we support local rugby and football clubs, specifically, the junior teams.
