Design and Images
Need graphics but don’t have the budget? Check out Canva – there is a free and paid version. It provides editable design templates that are easy to use and great for your graphic design needs. Canva has templates for presentations, social media, logos etc., I love to use professionals for graphic design but when I don’t have the budget this is a fantastic option.
Unsplash has beautiful, free images that have been gifted by community photographers. When writing blogs for your business it’s helpful to find an image that is just right for your content.
Content Development
For all businesses, you need to provide content. Finding new blog topics can be a challenge so recently I started using Answer The Public. The data is compiled from search engines like Google and then provides you with useful phrases and questions that people are asking around the keyword. The tool is available but as with most free tools, there are limitations on how many free searches you can do.
When we are writing our blogs it doesn’t look good if it is full of typos. The Grammarly tool is invaluable. Currently, over 30 million people use this tool globally. It’s easy to use and so helpful. There is a free and paid version of this tool.
Digital Marketing
There are some SEO tools in the marketplace that are free. You can sign up for a trial to see how they work and decide if you want to go with a paid version that offers a lot more. One I particularly like is SEMrush, it has many features such as keyword research, audits etc.
There are also a few free WordPress plugins for SEO, the most well-known is Yoast SEO. It is useful for SEO on blogs, website pages and local SEO. If you have a WordPress site this is a ‘must have’.
Email Marketing
If you’re not using email marketing software, you’re leaving money on the table. It’s one of the easiest ways to connect with customers and prospects and one of the most effective. Mailchimp is well known and widely used by small and large businesses for their email marketing.
Analytics & Reporting
Of course, you can’t go wrong by using Google Analytics. It is one of the most popular analytics platforms available today. It provides detailed reports on how visitors interact with your site, allowing you to make informed decisions about what changes need to be made. You can use it to track visitor behaviour, identify trends, and see where your traffic comes from.
Conclusion
There are many more free and paid digital marketing tools out for a small business owner. As with everything it takes time and patience, but the majority of free tools listed in this blog are not difficult to learn. Once you get started you will find they are quick and easy to use daily.
