After seeing the response in the Airline market, Spicejet is planning to grab India’s E-Commerce market. The business is dealing with next-day shipment service that e-commerce gamers like Flipkart and Amazon are providing to customers. “E-commerce is a big motorist behind our foray into the truck business. “With next day delivery services of Amazon, Flipkart providing high-value items and equipment, there is a need for a truck airline company, which can use time-specific services,” Ajay Singh, CMD, SpiceJet said in a recent interview.Note that, SpiceJet will
have a different entity for the freighter business under the brand SpiceXpress. It would ship products like farm fresh fruits and veggies to the global locations. Source Ajay is preparing an aggressive growth plan to double the cargo capability of the airline company by inducting 13 airplane by 2019. “The present freight capacity of the airline company has to do with 500 tonnes per day and with the induction of the freighters it would go up to 900 tonnes daily by March 2019,”Singh added.Through its freighter conversion programme, the aircraft manufacturer is changing traveler aircrafts into trucks. The seats are being gotten rid of producing space for cargo. Other modifications include setting up a large main-deck cargo door, a cargo-handling system and accommodations for as much as 4 crews.SpiceJet is aiming to target Blue Dart’s monopoly in the air cargo service with a market share of 49 percent.
