Inventive, Flexible, and Collaborative. Digital Marketing Adapts to 2020

We talked to Kristina Witmer of Witmer Group about its digital marketing solutions.

First of all, how are you and your family doing in these COVID-19 times?

Kristina Witmer: I am doing fine, as well as my family. We are in different states, so the lack of travel options was tough. Mostly it is a battle to make sure people are paying attention to their mental health.

Tell us about you, your career, how you founded Witmer Group.

Kristina Witmer: After working in ad agencies for several years, I decided to chart a course on my own. Fortunately, I knew many talented people and started recruiting them as contractors to join me on the journey.

How does Witmer Group innovate?

Kristina Witmer: We are extreme listeners. When we sit down with clients, the first thing we do is ask them to tell us their story, their pain points; their goals; and where they want to be in 5 years. Each client is unique, so the solutions they need change over time. That means we customize and build in the element of scalability they need as they grow.

How the coronavirus pandemic affects your business, and how are you coping?

Kristina Witmer: The pandemic has affected my business in a variety of ways. Primarily with clients’ needs changing, particularly if their business is driven by events, products, or services that focus on in-person interactions to succeed. On the contrary, some more essential businesses are finding internal paces accelerating. We have had to be nimbler and more flexible than usual during this time.

As an entrepreneur, I feel blessed that my business is doing well and that I am not in the corporate world where I have less control over my future. Also, the fact that we have worked predominantly as a remote team from the start is advantageous. We are familiar with the process and know how to collaborate, whether in person or remotely.

Did you have to make difficult choices, and what are the lessons learned?

Kristina Witmer: When you go on your own, you always have a level of risk that you might now otherwise have. Making decisions about the demands of a client versus the reality of deliverability is a challenge as well as learning to understand the variety of personality types from both the client and employee side.

How do you deal with stress and anxiety, how do you project yourself and Witmer Group in the future?

Kristina Witmer: I am an avid video gamer, so I enjoy time off to indulge in gaming with friends. My pets, Roxie, and Boomer are great stress-relievers, too.

As for future growth, I see Witmer Group growing and moving forward. We certainly have the talent to take on even the toughest clients. And because we do not shy away from ‘yet to be explored’ industries, we remain eager to gain new insight and learn as we grow.

Who are your competitors? And how do you plan to stay in the game?

Kristina Witmer: There is plenty of competition out there in digital marketing, whether local to Dallas, Texas, or national. Our plan is to stay on a path of proactive listening to each client — large, small, or in-between, keeping a vigilant watch over their growth and staying connected through honest communications.

Your final thoughts?

Kristina Witmer: This year has been challenging for many, but we are grateful for the opportunity to serve our clients and for the challenge to think differently as we solve marketing problems for our clients and ourselves. We know the strengths that drive us forward, and we commit to what we know we do well.
