Kaia Gerber has resorted to giving herself a DIY tattoo during the quarantine.
The model is known to have amassed a set of tiny tattoos, and has now added a minimalist one to the collection. Because getting a professional tattoo is impossible in the current pandemic, Gerber told Glamour she resorted to the “stick and poke” tattoo method by herself during isolation.
“I’ve been struggling because one of my favorite pastimes was going and getting tattoos, and nobody’s been able to do that,” Gerber said. “So, in the meantime, I gave myself a stick and poke, which I do not recommend.”
Her method involved piercing the skin with a needle by hand, instead of using a mechanical tattoo setup. However, she decided not to be too “ambitious” and gave herself a dot tattoo.
Even though it was simple, it helped her better understand the craftsmanship of real tattoo artists.
“I think I have a newfound appreciation for tattoo artists. It’s not easy,” she said. Gerber’s collection of tattoo designs includes a Picasso painting and a winged angel ink.
Meanwhile, some interesting characters have obviously flouted social distancing measures to get coronavirus-themed tattoos done.
