New Google Experimental Feature Makes Webpages Faster

Recently Google announced it was performing trial tests in Chrome to make webpages faster by running JavaScript in a way that improves responsiveness. This is a milestone as it can help publishers using the browser to take their core web vital metrics above and beyond the competition.

Although it’s still in the trial phases, it could eventually be a new standard that turbocharges page performance, and if it’s introduced publicly publishers across all of their content channels will be able to benefit from it.

Bing Chat Finally Available on Chrome

For those who have been using Microsoft Edge to take advantage of the AI Bing Chat feature, it’s finally being made available for Chrome users as well. This means that users can now take advantage of all the features. In fact, expect to see it be released on more platforms. Currently, their team is working on having a Safari version available soon.

Instagram Experiments with 10-Minute Reels

In an effort to compete with X, YouTube, and Twitter, Instagram is testing a new 10-minute reel feature designed to offer more long-form video content. This will hopefully enable users to capture their audience’s attention by providing more creative storytelling options and in-depth, fact-based content.

Google Limits “How To” and FAQ-Rich Results

Recently Google announced that it would be limiting “How-To” and FAQ-rich results to include only online authoritative health and government websites that are well-known. They also said that for all other sites, the rich results will not be shown regularly. One possible reason for this pivot could be due to FAQs and How-To pages created using AI platforms that have generated poor answers.

From what we can see, Google appears to be moving toward a push for single-answer and single-question content in an effort to reduce a single page monopolizing the rich snippets and emphasizing increased focus on in-depth answers.
