Kim Jong-un has sent social media users in a frenzy after photos of him riding a white house surfaced online.
The North Korean leader decided to embark on a horse ride up snowy Mount Paektu, as seen in stunning photos taken by the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA).
Kim appeared to be in high spirits as the magnificent white horse he was riding on galloped away. The North Korean leader wore a thick brown coat and gloves to protect him from the cold; it was reportedly the mountain’s first snowfall this year.
Describing the shots, KCNA wrote that during the horseback riding session on Mount Paektu, Kim “recollected the struggles he covered” about building the “most powerful country with faith.”
The mountain is said to have a “weighty importance” in the history of North Korea, as it is the birthplace of the leader’s father, Kim Jong-il.
After the photos circulated online, the internet was full of opinions. NK News’ managing editor Oliver Hotham said the pictures were “quite something,” while one Twitter user joked that it looked like an “Old Spice commercial.”
Others thought the photos evoked memories of Russian president Vladimir Putin, who went horseback riding shirtless during a vacation in Southern Siberia in 2009.

Kim Jong Un’s decision to “strike the world with wonder” comes with cortex-punching photo of him on a unicorn-white horse. #PRskills https://t.co/mlgUU6XXoN
I think the last time we saw him pictured on a steed was in 2012 and it wasn’t quite as wondrous. https://t.co/4W3MNTLfql pic.twitter.com/AdDXAiq6iB
Just seen the photo of Kim Jong Un on a horse and all I can think of is that Old Spice advert. pic.twitter.com/KgdUzI0X7F
As the @nprpolitics would say, I can’t let go of Kim Jong Un riding a white horse. I’m trying to watch the #DemDebate , but I just keep going back to KJU on a white horse. The horse is so beautiful. Kim’s legs are so short. His hair is a different species. There is so much here. pic.twitter.com/UUm4hF88E5
