The coronavirus outbreak has forced many events to get canceled as a prevention measure against the virus. One event that has been called off is the South by Southwest (SXSW) Film Festival, which was supposed to take place from 14 March 2020 to 22 March 2020.
Aspiring filmmakers were not able to premiere their short films due to the unprecedented circumstances, until now. Mailchimp and film production and distribution company Oscilloscope have joined forces to launch a digital platform to present 75 of the selected short films to the masses, per IndieWire.
The platform will allow people from all parts of the world to watch the short films that were curated for the SXSW Film Festival. The #SupportTheShorts launch aims to shed light on filmmakers and their work.
It also enables movie-lovers to catch these short films from their homes via the new streaming platform, Mailchimp Presents.
The films will be available on the channel for at least 30 days, and then filmmakers can decide whether to remove them or keep them up.
The lineup now available for streaming includes Santiago Menghini’s Regret, which won the Midnight Shorts category. Head on over here to view the short.
