Meet our new Digital Marketing Specialist – Gemma Greaves

It’s been a hot minute since we welcomed a new member of the team on board here at huzzah! With lots of growth taking place and tonnes of exciting new updates in the pipeline, we were in need of an extra pair of hands on board to help us bring all our plans to life. Enter Gemma Greaves, our brand new Digital Marketing Specialist.

Gemma joins us from an agency background working across the digital marketing landscape but specialising in PPC, SEO and web design. As soon as we met her, we knew Gemma’s creativity and technical know-how was going to be a real asset to the team, not to mention her kooky sense of humour and excellent taste in music. We think she fits right in!

What have you been up to in your first week?

I’ve had a great warm welcome to the team at huzzah! – starting the week off right with some very nice chicken at the Button Factory! On the flip side I’ve been getting to know our client’s businesses and how they work, cracking on with edits to the backend of websites, looking into digital strategies to how we can implement PPC as well as some creative website changes. It’s been a great start!

How did you get into marketing?

I’ve always been interested in going down the career path of graphic design. I studied art and design at college specialising in Viscom and Fine Art. After searching high and low for a graphic design apprenticeship I found a digital marketing apprenticeship that ticked all the boxes, learning all things digital combined with creativity.

From there I learnt all about SEO, PPC and social media marketing which allowed me to get creative with new blog and social posts. I then had the privilege of being taught web design, allowing me to combine my love of graphic design with WordPress to make some very nice websites!

From dibble dabbling in lots of digital mediums, I enjoy being able to be flexible in marketing as each day is different, one day I could be building a site the next I could be performing a fierce SEO audit!

What’s your favourite social media channel and why?

It’s 100% gotta be Instagram! I’m all about that scroll: whether it’s pizza shots, cool hipsters with impressive beards or a nice scenic view. But on a serious note I think as a social platform it’s one of the easiest to navigate and it can really show the personality of your business in a simplistic visual way.

What do you love most about digital marketing?

What I love most about digital marketing is that it’s constantly evolving, there’s always new algorithms to follow from Google updates to social updates, always keeping you on your toes in the digital world!

Do you have any hobbies?

I love a good Netflix binge, I have a bad habit of rewatching series rather than finding anything new (Rick and Morty and BB being the biggest culprits). I also like to draw random things on Procreate when I’m bored and go to Taekwondo a couple times a week slowly working my way up to black belt.

Have you got any marketing pet peeves?

Email sign ups and spam! Nothing annoys me more when you’re browsing a site and they bombard you with pop ups to subscribe or the worst is when you HAVE to sign up and make an account to read an article – and then when you sign up you then get irrelevant spam drowning out your inbox.. no no no.

  • I do an uncanny impression of Missy from Big Mouth
  • I was 4 months premature – You wouldn’t think so from the size of me!
  • I accidentally walked into a Black Sabbath event and came face to face with Tony Iommi and Geezer Butler
