‘Megxit’ Dominates Internet After Meghan Markle & Prince Harry Declare Departure – Corporate B2B Sales & Digital Marketing Agency in Cardiff covering UK

The hashtag ‘#Megxit’ trended on Twitter after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced their exit from the Royal family.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry broke the news on Instagram, and it surprised everyone including British royals, indicating that the couple did not consult the family about their decision.

The couple stated that they would be stepping back from their roles as “senior members” of the Royal family. They would also begin working towards having “financial independence.”

Their sudden departure would definitely leave a mark, and a statement from Buckingham Palace too appears vague. “Discussions with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are at an early stage. We understand their desire to take a different approach, but these are complicated issues that will take time to work through,” the note reads.

The news has rocked the internet, and many social media users have taken to Twitter to express their opinions about ‘#Megxit’. Others have taken the opportunity to share memes and jokes about the couple’s move.

Actress Jameela Jamil tweets, “And that folks, is what power looks like.” Camilla Blackett comments, “Omg so Harry and Meghan didn’t even get permission, they just ghosted! This tea is delicious. Darjeeling.”

“Cast Meghan in the next season of Succession,” writer Lauren Collins tweets. “Northwestern graduate moving closer to home after spending time abroad,” writes the Chicago Tribune.

Comedian Amy Schumer has also decided to jump in on the fun, posting a photo of herself and her husband with the caption, “Chris and I are formally stepping down from our royal duties. We appreciate your support.”
