When anyone thinks of Kate Middleton, her wavy brunette hair, piercing brown eyes and warmth smile come to mind. The Duchess of Cambridge has been in the public eye for over a decade, and somehow, there barely seems to be a bad photo of her out there.
Photographer Grace Robinson narrows down the attributes that makes Middleton photogenic. She says that the Duchess has nailed four aspects: makeup, hairstyle, outfit and posture.
Robinson shares that the Duchess’ loose brunette waves often sit in front of her shoulders, framing her face well for photographs. Her hair color also plays a key role as it “compliments her skin tone and makeup perfectly,” the photographer tells Yahoo News.
Her makeup is also another notable factor. Middleton goes for natural makeup, which makes her “photo-ready” all the time.
According to Robinson, an individual’s makeup style has to match their face shape, and wearing too much makeup is a big no-no. She explains that these factors usually “show up negatively on camera.”
The photographer also points out three prominent postures that Middleton has nailed. Firstly, Middleton is usually wearing a smile when photographed. “Smiling is infectious and encourages the photographer to keep snapping until they get the perfect shot,” she explains.
The Duchess would also face slightly to her side when in front of the camera. Robinson describes that this usually slims down the face and accentuates the jaw line.
Finally, she rarely faces the front of the camera, as doing so can result in the loss of “definition in the face” when photographed.
Middleton also dresses fittingly to her slim figure. Since her top is usually well-fitted, the Duchess often adds layers to the bottom part, which makes her getup flattering and encourages plenty of visual movement.
