MOUNTAIN AREA — Sierra News Online (SNO) is pleased to announce the inauguration and implementation of our new and state-of-the-art information delivery service — one that will provide the latest breaking news as well as local advertising to the residents of Eastern Madera County.
Through an exclusive licensing agreement with Community Digital, Inc. of Mariposa (CDI), this new subsidiary company known as Sierra Digital Marketing (SDM) will enhance SNO’s preeminence as the primary community news source in the southern Yosemite region.
CDI began operating in Mariposa County in 2018 and now has 15 HD screens playing in 13 high-traffic locations in and around Mariposa.
An agreement to broadcast local breaking news through the Mariposa network is also in the works with SNO, which is meanwhile negotiating the acquisition of a licensing agreement with Mariposa County to help link the communities through digital advertising and news reports, according to Lisa Clark, SNO’s publisher and sales manager.
“We’re excited to bring this digital technology to our supporters, customers and advertisers,” says Clark.
Through proprietary and state-of-the-art software developed by CDI, SNO will be able to provide the residents of Eastern Madera County with timely notice of breaking news events and reports right where customers are: in high-traffic stores and retail locations.
The delivery method is in the form of 50 inch high-definition digital video monitors playing at multiple locations throughout the Eastern Madera County network. SDM will produce the videos and dictate placement, while CDI will manage the network through a cluster of securely maintained servers.
“We believe this will be an extremely valuable community asset,” Clark continues.
“Imagine being in the check-out line at your favorite store when a news bulletin from SNO appears on the screen, alerting you to a fire, auto collision, or other emergency.
“These real-time news alerts will allow you and your loved ones to respond accordingly and take appropriate action, such as finding alternative routes to your home, school or office. Through this technology, we can broadcast these verified news alerts nearly instantaneously.”
Host agreements are currently being established with high-traffic locations throughout Eastern Madera County. Any local area retailer with a daily customer count of at least 150 people can participate in the network at zero cost.
The network is designed to ensure that no similar business will have competing advertisements playing in the same location. Local advertisements will rotate continuously on the screens until a breaking news alert or other emergency notification is required, which will then broadcast through the Eastern Madera County network.
“A combination advertising package is currently being developed where we’ll be able to offer ads on our highly recognized website as well as on digital video, with either method offered individually,” explains Clark.
“There will be an eventual cap on the number of videos able to be played through the EMC network and slots will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis.”
Even at this early stage of development, Sierra Digital Marketing is able to offer digital advertisers a marketing package that will reach over 150,000 viewers per month.
Advertisers who wish to lock in a digital schedule and reserve a position on the EMC Network should contact Lisa Clark at [email protected] for more information.
