Swatch’s Latest Bare-Bones Watches Are Made From A New ‘Bioceramic’ Material – Corporate B2B Sales & Digital Marketing Agency in Cardiff covering UK

Swatch has released new watches made of a new material: Bioceramic, a mix of ceramic and bioplastic created using castor oil.

The new component is found in the case material of the 47mm Big Bold watch, which comes in five colors—black, white, light gray, blue and pink. The watches are complemented with bioplastic straps of matching color schemes.

The material is a mix of two-thirds ceramic and one-third bioplastic, and is developed to be compatible with the company’s existing machinery. A pigment is also added into the mix, resulting in a lightweight material that is scratch-resistant with a “soft touch” finishing.

The watch is designed without a dial, and with a steep internal wall, the hands and the architectural structure of the case are accentuated.

Swatch intends to use the Bioceramic material across its future collections. It currently remains mum about possible plans to use the material to replace plastics in future watches.

Priced at £108 (US$149), the Big Bold Bioceramic watches will be available to purchase on April 15 via Swatch.com.
