Chris Graham, ROAR Digital Marketing

An expanding digital marketing agency has appointed an accomplished head of sales to drive further growth.

Tyneside-based ROAR Digital Marketing has recruited Chris Graham, who has extensive sales experience at some prestigious companies within the industry and in sports travel, to develop and grow a new sales division at the company. The appointment coincides with significant growth for ROAR which has increased its client base by nearly 50 per cent in the past three months.

Chris said: “I’m really excited about the upcoming challenge and I’m looking forward to being able to use my experience and skills to develop such an ambitious and upcoming company like ROAR Digital Marketing, and play a part in driving further growth.”

ROAR’s managing director Michael Knowles said: “Welcoming someone as knowledgeable and talented as Chris into the ROAR Digital Marketing team will help elevate the business to new heights, and help drive us towards achieving our ambitious growth plans.”

ROAR Digital Marketing specialises in Search Engine Marketing to boost business’ online visibility by increasing traffic to their websites and generating sales leads through implementing data and results-driven strategies.

Lauren Clark, Carney Consultancy

North-Tyneside based, Carney Consultancy, has announced the appointment of trainee fire risk assessor, Lauren Clark.

Her arrival follows that of trainee health and safety advisor, Erin Rochdale and business
administrator, Lucy Dean. Lauren, who previously worked as a chartered building surveyor, will report to health and safety consultant and lead fire risk assessor, Steve Harkness and director, David Wadds.

Lauren, said: “Having worked as a building surveyor for five years I wanted a role more specific to one area. I undertook a fire risk assessment course with my previous company and really enjoyed it.

“I was aware the company was developing its fire safety and compliance team, so I have joined at a great time. As part of my role, I am shadowing Steve to undertake on-site fire risk assessments and I am currently studying for my UK Fire Door Training certificate, whilst benefitting from the robust inhouse training the company provides.”

Angela Carney, managing director at Carney Consultancy, said: “Having known Lauren for a number of years, when the opportunity became available, I knew she would fit our culture very well. Coupled with her expertise in building surveying and the fact that she is a member of the Chartered Institute of Building (MCIOB), we expect her to advance to a fully-fledged fire risk assessor very quickly.”

Baroness Jenny Chapman, Teesside University

A nationally prominent politician with a long history of support for social mobility and the positive impact of quality higher education is the first woman to be appointed as Chancellor of Teesside University.

Rt. Hon. The Baroness Chapman of Darlington, the former MP for Darlington and a leading figure within the Labour Party, will be officially installed as Chancellor at a special ceremony later this year.

Baroness Jenny Chapman was the member of parliament for her hometown of Darlington between 2010 and 2019, during which time she served on the Labour front benches as Shadow Minister for Prisons, Shadow Minister for Childcare and Early Years and Shadow Minister for Exiting the European Union.

Throughout her career, Baroness Chapman has been a committed champion for the Tees Valley and campaigner for quality education, speaking in the Houses of Parliament on issues including student fees and the positive impact of universities within their local communities.

Professor Paul Croney, OBE, vice-chancellor and chief executive of Teesside University, said: “We are delighted to welcome Baroness Chapman as our new Chancellor. She shares our institutional values and will be an outstanding ambassador and advocate for our university.

“She will help to drive our mission to transform lives and economies, and I am sure she will be instrumental in helping to achieve our University’s future ambitions.”
