Customer relationship management software company Updox is debuting a range of digital marketing services, including search marketing, social media advertising, local listing management, review management and insights and analytics.
“Today’s independent and community pharmacies are under siege from national competitors and declining reimbursement rates, heightening the need to further increase engagement, create efficiencies and strengthen the role of pharmacists in the new healthcare system,” Updox CEO Michael Morgan, said. “Considering that roughly two-thirds of U.S. adults use Facebook, and that Google receives over 63,000 searches per second on any given day, pharmacies must capitalize on these platforms in order to grow their customer bases. With Updox’s new digital marketing program, our customers have the opportunity to grow their community presence, ultimately boosting their bottom lines.”
The new digital marketing services were first offered in early 2019. Powell Pharmacy, an independent pharmacy based in Powell, Ohio, participated in the pilot program. The pharmacy reached more than 20,000 people in their service area, resulting in 130 phone calls, pharmacy visits, and direction inquiries in two weeks at an average cost of $2.72 per conversion, the company said.
“Pharmacists play a vital role in delivering healthcare. But in today’s age, we are tasked with not just engaging existing patients and collaborating with prescribing physicians, but also attracting new customers. This is where technology comes into play to reach a wider audience and a new generation of patients who might not have experienced an independent pharmacy before,” Emlah Tubuo, owner of Powell Pharmacy said. “Since I started using Updox, I’m seeing new patients transfer their prescriptions to me. People are finding me online.”
