What has been your “secret sauce” formula for digital marketing?
I’m sorry to be the bearer of bad news but I think you know very well there is no “secret sauce” to digital marketing.
When I was studying for my MBA I read many research articles on the theory of digital marketing but the conclusion was always the same. No such formula exists.
No such formula exists.
This is why you have to use “trial and error” because what works today in digital marketing doesn’t work tomorrow.
Here is what we know about digital marketing so far…
- Build trust -because you act in sincerity and honesty doesn’t mean your audience will perceive that as such. Building trust online is very different than build trust in person (off-line). Trust is built with consistency. We all have to start somewhere, and doing something is better than nothing at all. Start small so you don’t get discouraged and give up. Remember it is all about consistency.
- Give them value — as a formula value the difference between what they pay and what they actually get. Every person quantifies value differently. Pick your value points and make it evident in everything you do.
- Create better content -why does one article you write do better than others and vice a vis. It’s impossible to know what better content is against your competitors. Likewise, if the content is the fire, social media is the gasoline. Create more, distribute more on social. It will ignite a bigger and bigger audience.
- Be patient — how long before you can gain traction and are willing to wait? Some think 5 years is long. Others believe it’s just getting started. Patience is not simply the ability to wait — it’s how we behave while we’re waiting. Enjoy the process, because the wisdom you gain during your time of growth produces immense wisdom.
