For this year’s Annual Retreat, Tribu went beachside! After closing up the office on a Friday, we hit the road and made our way to Mustang Island in Corpus Christi. We were greeted by Tribu-branded canvas bags and beach towels on our beds (need merch design for your brand? Contact us today! 😉). The evening didn’t end there — we hit up a local seafood restaurant to enjoy good conversation and fill our faces with shrimp and oysters.
Don’t be fooled by all the goodies and dining out, our Tribe Retreats are more than just a vacation or a getaway, and each year they serve a different purpose. We utilize this time to engage in an activity that will strengthen our skills and benefit our tribe partners. This year, we worked on our feedback skills. Having the courage to give, receive it, and knowing how to use it productively. We asked each other questions such as “What can I improve on?” and “What do I do that’s awesome?”.
It’s fair to say that we were initially apprehensive about this activity — hearing somebody voice your weaknesses can bruise the ego a little, and there’s also the fear of offending somebody when giving it. However, all those fears went away as soon as we started the exercise, and not only did it strengthen our feedback skills, but it also strengthened our relationships with one another.
Following the feedback activity, the rest of the day was spent soaking up the sun at the beach and roasting marshmallows around a campfire in the evening. We left the retreat on Sunday feeling closer as a tribe, and also a little sunburned. Roll on #2020TribeRetreat!
