While many smartphone users may have come across an Anker charging device—after all, that’s what the brand’s most known for—it’s now dipping its toes into a different segment of technology: 3D printers.
The company has just unveiled the AnkerMake M5, its first 3D printer, in a Kickstarter campaign aimed to take the technology mainstream with a focus on speedy printing.
Starting from US$499, the printer comes with built-in artificial intelligence (AI) cameras that help keep an eye (literally!) on your printing, even allowing the machine to come to a pause if it senses that something’s not quite right.

No matter the design you’re working on, the AnkerMake M5 offers a basic print speed of 250 mm/s and a standard acceleration of 2,500 mm/s², which it says is up to five times quicker than other 3D printers on the market.
Plus, it spares no expense when it comes to quality, with the printer’s base made out of integrated die-cast aluminum alloy structure and a Z-axis design to reduce the center of gravity of the device. This enables it to remain stable even during fast printing speeds and turbo acceleration.

Naturally, 3D printing still isn’t as quick as printing on paper, so you may be busying yourself with other tasks while waiting for the job to be done. Anker anticipates this with its companion app, which allows users to watch the printing progress live in HD and share those amazing time-lapses on social media.
According to the project timeline, the AnkerMake M5 is slated to begin shipping in August 2022. Though the early bird package has been all snapped up, you can still get your hands on the US$599 set that’ll save you 24% on the retail price of US$759 when it eventually hits the shelves.
