Dutchie Launches Customizable Cannabis e-Commerce Platform; Cookies, Native Roots Sign Up

Dutchie, an e-commerce tech company for cannabis industry, is launching a new enterprise-level solution that seeks to provide dispensaries with the ability to create completely customized e-commerce experiences for their customers — this is according to information procured exclusively ahead of an official announcement.

Dubbed Dutchie Plus, the platform aims to establish itself as “the Shopify Plus for cannabis,” the company says.

In an exclusive interview, co-founder and chief product officer Zach Lipson explained the product responds to the cannabis industry’s rapid growth.

“Innovative and progressive multi-state operators and larger dispensaries are looking to take their online experience to the next level. Particularly, in a direction that’s fully on-brand and designed to match the uniqueness of their stores,” he declared.

This is where Dutchie Plus comes in, providing retailers with a set of APIs to customize their customers’ experiences.

“Dutchie Plus is the next evolution in cannabis e-commerce. By providing such a powerful and flexible solution to the leading retailers in the space, it represents a significant leap forward in our mission to create easy access to cannabis for everyone,” he added.

According to Dutchie’s management team, the company has been in talks with various major multi-state operators (MSOs) looking to fully control the look and feel of their online presence and experience.

Cookies, one of the world’s top cannabis brands, is among the enterprise-level retailers building their new online experience on top of Dutchie Plus.

Native Roots is another top MSO that upped the game of its digital presence with an open source API.

Sam Gammon, director of technology at Cookies explicated that Cookies’ discerning fan base “collectively demands and deserves world-class experiences, paired, of course, with the dankest bud on Earth.”

According to Gammon, Dutchie Plus enables Cookies to bring its “polish and magic to digital, where innovation is sorely needed in the cannabis space… Technology and cannabis can be powerful equalizing forces, and Dutchie Plus is a big step toward something truly fresh and new that works great for operators while meeting customers where they are: the free and open internet.”

Alex Bitz, IT director at Native Roots added, “From the very beginning, Dutchie went above and beyond to collaborate with our developers to meet our need for a flexible e-commerce tool”, says Alex Bitz, Director of IT at Native Roots. “We’ll now have an incredible amount of flexibility to build a branded, tailored experience while still enabling us to leverage the Dutchie system for it’s strengths. Dutchie Plus will be a game-changer for this industry.”

Dutchie closed one of the industry’s largest Series B rounds back in August, at $35 million. The company is backed by Howard Schultz, Snoop Dogg’s Casa Verde Capital, Gron Ventures, Thrive Capital, Kevin Durant’s Thirty Five Ventures, and other notable investors.
