If it’s not already clear, disinfectant isn’t the one true answer to killing bacteria or viruses. MyBoxShop, a direct-to-consumer feminine product brand, also wants to put it out there that it’s not for cleaning your sensitive bits.
The company took to Instagram to share a stock photo of two women depicted to discuss keeping their vaginas clean. While many women might be aware that vaginas are self-cleaning, one of the characters in the clip describes that she keeps hers “nice and shiny” by spraying disinfectant into it.
“I like toxins in my vagina,” the woman declares, before her face turns green presumably due to poisoning. The bizarre ad aims to advertise MyBoxShop’s toxin-free tampons.
The video is in response to US president Donald Trump’s infamous suggestion that disinfectant could be injected into the body to clear it of COVID-19. He later claimed that the remark was sarcastic.
