ONE Sotheby’s International Realty has partnered Voxel Architects and contractor Gabe Sierra to build the world’s first ‘MetaReal’ mansion that comprises a home in the real world as well as a virtual counterpart in the metaverse.

The actual home, which is scheduled to be completed in Q4 this year, will be located in Miami. According to Forbes, its owner will own both the physical property and the non-fungible token asset.

The Miami mansion will be built in one of the city’s most elite neighborhoods on a one-acre lot, spanning 11,000 square feet with seven bedrooms and nine baths. The virtual home will mirror the physical building, with Voxel Architects helping to design it in the metaverse.

“The metaverse counterpart of the home will serve as an extension of the real-world home, allowing the buyer to host in-home meetings, events, and parties with guests from around the world,” explained Meta Residence founder, Gabe Sierra.

“Imagine fighting off a dragon, traversing over a mountain range, and finally arriving at your metaverse property, where you are greeted by your friends who are visiting to check out your new Bored Ape NFT. After interacting in your virtual living room, you exit the metaverse, and you are now sitting inside that same real-world house,” he added.

The virtual counterpart will be part of The Sandbox, a 3D world platform that boasts celebrity owners such as Snoop Dogg. Other properties within the online world include art galleries, hangout spots, commercial spaces, and other homes the owner of the mansion will be able to visit.

Ocean Drive reported that in addition to the mansion, the collaboration has purchased a 40-acre space in the metaverse for future projects. This could potentially be other homes, commercial spaces for businesses, or gaming opportunities.

“We believe that the metaverse is the next evolution of social connection and will play a role in the future of real estate in one way or another. Selling a real-world mansion through the metaverse is something no one has done before, and we feel this concept will create a very unique customer experience,” said Daniel de la Vega, President of ONE Sotheby’s.

The MetaReal Mansion will be auctioned off for an undisclosed price later this year, with the transaction expected to be made on the Ethereum blockchain.
