If you keep up with the Kardashians, there’s no doubt you’d have heard of the runaway success that’s Kim Kardashian’s SKIMS fashion line. From designing the official undergarments and loungewear for Team USA at the Olympics to launching a luxury capsule with Fendi, the brand’s on its way to becoming one of the powerhouses of recent years.

Now, in a push for accessibility for all customers, SKIMS has launched a brand-new adaptive collection so that all body types and sizes, even those who deal with disabilities or limited mobility, can feel good about what they’re wearing.

According to Fashion United, the brand aims to address this gap in the market by featuring front or side closures on each piece in the collection, including a bralette and briefs. Plus, it added ultra-lightweight micro bonded technology so the closures will mold to the contours of the body instead of digging in, and will remain invisible under clothing.

Jens Grede, the co-founder of SKIMS, told Fast Company that both he and Kardashian set out to create “new standards” of innovation and inclusivity when the brand debuted in 2019, and hope to offer adaptive wear that isn’t just functional but also comfortable, chic, and stylish to fit all body types.

Going forward, the company plans to expand its accessible apparel collection to include other categories for this “long-ignored” space, and currently fronting the campaign is USA Paralympic athlete Scout Basset, who stars in the launch as a brand ambassador.

Bassett revealed to Fast Company that the hook and eye closures made getting ready in the mornings much more convenient, and that she was glad to be working with a brand that’s striving to create a fashion landscape that empowers all.

The Adaptive Collection is now available on the official website, starting from US$18 for underwear to US$32 for a bralette, and comes in four neutral colorways to match a variety of skin tones.
