Meet Our New Marketing Duo, Haley & Katie! | Kicks Digital Marketing

Haley: Hi all! My name is Haley and I am so excited to be joining the Kicks team! I graduated with a degree in Journalism from IU, and have loved using it in unconventional ways ever since.

While initially, I learned how to work in print, I’ve loved learning to adapt those skills to create digital marketing content for clients. My goal is to use those skills to make those I work with happy. I can’t wait to continue doing that with Kicks!

Katie: Hey hey! I’m Katie Mills and I’m pumped to be a part of Kicks Digital. I come from working in publishing – specifically marketing and book cover design. I love storytelling and brand power, and can’t wait to get to help tell the stories of our clients.

What 3 traits define you?

If there was a movie about your life, who would you like to see cast?

Haley: Definitely Audrey Hepburn from her Breakfast at Tiffany’s days. She is the perfect combination of quirky and classy — I like to think of myself the same way.

Katie: If I’m picking from my favorite actresses- Reese Witherspoon. Make it a rom-com, heavy on the com.

What is your favorite place in the world?

Haley: Clearwater, Florida for sure…more specifically the Clearwater Marine Aquarium. If you’ve ever seen the movie Dolphin Tale, it’s is the aquarium from that movie (the place that has the dolphin with a prosthetic tail). That’s actually where I had my first internship and there is no place in the world that makes me happier!

Katie: On the water. Period. I’m a lake girl. I love Lake Freeman in Monticello, IN and also Norris Lake, Tennessee. Norris Lake is over 50 square miles and surrounded by a national forest. It is absolutely so gorgeous and so remote (no signal, not even good wifi at the lake houses). I’m usually surrounded by my favorite people in these kind of places, which doesn’t hurt either.

What are some of your favorite spots in Indy?

Haley: I LOVE Condado. If you haven’t been you must go. There’s one downtown and in Broad Ripple, both locations are fantastic. They have the best tacos and queso I have ever had. I also love to visit Easley Winery on the weekends!

Katie: I’m at Summit Strength working out everyday, so it is definitely my favorite gym in the city. I love hanging out at Big Lug Canteen or Peace Water Winery, and you can find me at Indie Coffee Roasters pretty frequently drinking an americano.

If you could learn anything, what would it be?

Haley: How to scuba dive! I love the ocean so if I could scuba dive that is definitely what I would be doing on every single vacation.

Katie: Sign Language! That’s on my bucket list.

If you weren’t in Marketing, what would your career path be?

Haley: I always wanted to be a Marine Biologist (see a theme here?). If I had to pick any other career path that would certainly be the one. I find sea life so fascinating. I would love to study the animals and even find ways to better protect the endangered species!

Katie: Realistically, probably in the health field. I am a certified health coach, was a college athlete, and love to help people. They all collide there. I’m lucky and my husband owns a gym, so I get to flex that muscle on occasion. Fun idea? Professional ice cream taste tester for sure.

How do you define success?

Haley: I define success by the happiness of those I am working with and around. If the person I’m helping is happy, then I’m happy. While I love to see the numbers grow, it’s ultimately about the happiness of the person I’m helping. If they aren’t happy with the results they are getting, then what’s the point?!

Katie: Success is something that is pretty straight forward – when you accomplish what you set out to do. For me, a successful day looks like some good coffee, quality time with my people, and moving at a slow enough pace to enjoy the little moments.

Most importantly- what shows are you watching, what podcasts have your attention and what music has your ears?

Haley: I am always watching Gilmore Girls on repeat and have been for like the last ten years. Other than that, reality TV is my guilty pleasure, I love all things Kardashian and Bachelor related.

As for podcasts, it kind of depends on my mood. There’s a Gilmore Girls themed podcast I’ve just recently started (imagine that) or if I’m feeling more ‘scholarly’ I like to listen to the Marketing Over Coffee podcast.

Music is the same way. I love a good pop station, but I can also happily listen to Kanye, Travis Scott, The Chainsmokers or Thomas Rhett. I will also always proudly admit to being a huge One Direction fan.

Katie: I’m watching Mindhunter & Atypical, listening to The Liturgists Podcast, and non-stop streaming Lover by Taylor Swift. (The whole album. On repeat. No shame.)
