Porsche and Pixar Animation Studios are venturing into philanthropic drive, quite literally, with a one-off ‘Sally Carrera’ car aimed to raise money for girls and young women in aid, as well as families affected by the conflict in Ukraine.

2022 marks the 20th birthday of Sally, the Porsche-inspired female lead in Cars who arrives at Radiator Springs to become its attorney.

In the film, Sally is a 2002 996-generation 911 Carrera—though Pixar took creative liberties to give her a distinct metallic blue finish, as well as tweak her wheelbase, windscreen, and exterior for character design purposes. The fictional version is also distinguishable by her pinstriping tattoo and turbo-twist wheels.

The upcoming street-legal Porsche, on the other hand, will be based on the 2022 model and reimagines Lightning McQueen’s girlfriend in the modern day.

The life-sized, fully functioning car will sport the same blue exterior, Sally’s tattoo, an update to her signature wheels, custom badges, and silver detailing, CNET’s reports. Meanwhile, its interior will be minimally decked out, with the exception of some blue accents, special side sills and additional badges.

For safety reasons, the real-world version will default to a windshield where Sally’s large eyes should be.

To accompany this special edition, Porsche and Pixar are giving the owner of the Sally Blue Metallic car a one-of-a-kind watch, a map of Radiator Springs, a manual and design books outlining the car’s creation, and a limited-edition luggage.

The project has been underway for some months, but Porsche and Pixar have decided to release the vehicle ahead of time in the wake of the crisis in Ukraine. The vehicle is on track to being auctioned off at RM Sotheby’s, with proceeds going to Girls Inc., a US nonprofit endeavoring to help girls break through economic, gender, and social limitations; and the UN Refugee Agency to support children and their families whose lives have been upended by the conflict with Russia.

“We wanted to help, somehow, and as a team, we realized we could perhaps harness what we were working on to raise money,” notes Jay Ward, Creative Director of Franchise at Pixar Animation Studios. “The whole project began with the premise that Sally’s character was devoted to helping others and it seems right that this should continue 20 years on.”
