Seagram’s Escapes Holiday Marketplace Features Black-Owned Plus-Size Businesses

The Seagram’s Escapes Holiday Marketplace is open until December 31

Seagram’s Escapes has created a one-stop shop to support Black-owned businesses this holiday season. Open through the last day of the year, the Seagram’s Escapes Holiday Marketplace features nearly 2,000 Black-owned businesses. Among them are plus-size clothiers Kuhrizmuh, Career Kay and Rated Pretty.

Ashley Lawhorn, owner and operator of Kuhrizmuh LLC, says, “Being featured in the marketplace is a pivotal moment where what you dream for manifests into reality.”

The online marketplace was created in partnership with reality television stars and Black businesswomen Cynthia Bailey and Eva Marcille. Potential customers can search the marketplace by category and be redirected to the participating business’ website to make purchases.

“With the holiday season approaching, we talked about how important the holidays are for small businesses, especially during this tough year,” says Bailey.

“We also acknowledged that COVID-19 has disproportionately affected Black-owned businesses, which is where the idea for the holiday marketplace was born.”

In addition to being highlighted online, three participating businesses will be selected to receive grants of $10,000 each.

Marcille shared, “As Black businesswomen and entrepreneurs, we’ve bonded over (bringing) the holiday marketplace to life. Black-owned businesses don’t always get the shine they deserve, which is why I’m so happy to take part in this program and bring attention to nearly 2,000 incredible businesses.”

Bailey shared, “The Seagram’s Escapes Holiday Marketplace not only amplifies Black businesses during a crucial selling time, but helps our friends and family get inspiration for their holiday shopping. I’m so excited to lift these Black business owners up and share their amazing shops with everyone.”

Lawhorn concluded that her gratitude cannot be measured, and added, “To go from overlooked to getting views from around the world is an overwhelmingly exciting feeling.”
