Tom Brady is the latest sportsperson to throw his hat into the fashion ring, with his apparel brand—Brady—set to launch early next year.

The NFL superstar has spent over three years developing the label with the help of former DKNY designer Dao-Yi Chow and Jens Grede, who had also worked with Kim Kardashian to found SKIMS.

In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, Brady is expectant that his brand would reach the heights of Michael Jordan’s eponymous Nike label. That will undoubtedly be a tough mountain to climb, seeing as the latter saw sales rising 17% to US$42.3 billion in 2021, as per Yahoo Sports.

Input pointed out that Jordan’s Jumpman logo was iconic, and features both on and off the court, while Brady’s logo won’t make an appearance on the field. This could mean it’ll take some time before fans link the apparel brand to the football veteran’s on-field prowess.

Knowing this, Brady has enlisted 10 NCAA and newly drafted players to boost his launch’s visibility. By attaching a diverse group of individuals—who hail from basketball, tennis, football, and hockey—to the brand, the label could attract a younger audience who dream of joining the roster of the next generation of star athletes.

“Having these 10 athletes represent our first Brady campaign is really special. They are hardworking and driven players in the early stages of their careers, and each one of them embodies the spirit and ethos in which our brand was founded,” Brady said.

At the moment, it appears the brand has only teased the standard apparel line of hoodies, jackets, and joggers, though it does seem that a wider launch has been scheduled for January 12, 2022. The label will be available at Brady’s website and select Nordstrom stores throughout the country.
