Volkswagen Canada has launched a new interactive website to promote its all-electric SUV.

According to Volkswagen, browsing through the internet generates approximately 4 percent of CO2 emissions. With the introduction of its first model in its ID. Family of Electric Vehicles and to showcase its commitment towards sustainable living, the automotive company launched a special site that uses less energy and overall, reduces carbon emissions.

It partnered with creative agency TAXI Toronto to remove all its car photographs and replace them with just “little more than black and white text” to create the illusions of the vehicle.

The result is a site that has a cleaner carbon footprint than 99 percent of the two million pages tested by Website Carbon—a digital carbon emissions calculator. The site produces an average of only 0.022 grams of CO2 per page view. An average site produces 1.76 grams of CO2 per page view.
