Xiaomi Teases Wireless Charging Technology That Powers Devices Through Air – Corporate B2B Sales & Digital Marketing Agency in Cardiff covering UK

Xiaomi has announced its new Mi Air Charge technology, which is capable of charging multiple devices wirelessly from a distance.

While traditional wireless chargers need to be attached to a power source, this technology uses radio waves to charge a device over the air—without wires. The system involves a base station with 144 antennas that broadcast a charging signal to compatible devices.

A smartphone with a receiving antenna array will be able to connect to the charging point “within a radius of several meters,” per Xiaomi. Users will also be able to move about the room and have physical objects between the smartphones without reducing the charging efficacy.

A millimeter-wave signal is broadcasted directly to the phone via “beamforming” with a beacon antenna. The Mi Air Charge is able to charge multiple phones at 5W of power each.

The company hopes to incorporate this technology in smartwatches, fitness bracelets, and other appliances, so future devices will no longer need a traditional power cable.
